Burbank is a smaller city just north of the downtown section of Los Angeles. It has been called the 'Media Capital of the World' because it holds many entertainment company headquarters including Warner Brothers, ABC, the Walt Disney Company and many others. The city is broken up into two areas: the downtown portion with its neighborhoods in the foothills of the mountains and the other region located in the flatlands of the valley. This city is very close to Los Angeles and is, in fact, part of the LA metropolitan area. Many people, who want to explore LA, or have business in the city, look into hotels Burbank has to offer. It is nice to visit and explore the larger city during the day and return to the quiet hotels Burbank has available at night.

If you decide to spend a little time in Burbank during your visit, there are several things to see. The Creative Arts Center is a public gallery on Clark Avenue that offers classes for visitors to help them improve their art skills in many different fields. The facility also has art galleries displaying past and present students, highlighting many different styles of art. Burbank City Hall is an architectural structure that is on the National Register of Historic Places. It has a lot of historical significance and visitors can take tours of the hall and learn more about its past.

The city also features two small theaters, named the Colony Theatre and the Falcon Theatre. The Colony Theatre is a world-class venue in the center of the city. It puts all sorts of shows on the center stage throughout the year. The Falcon Theatre also has a variety of shows for both adults and children. If you want to enjoy entertainment during the evening hours, check into what may be happening at both theaters and decide what you would like to see.

Many Burbank visitors spend much of their time next door in the larger city of Los Angeles. This city is filled with movie stars, movie studios, music recording studios, high-quality restaurants, state of the art shopping venues and much more. There is also a deep culture in the city and you can absorb a little of that in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This museum has been around for 50 years and it is one of the finest art museums in the country. With over 110,000 pieces of art in the collection, you are bound to see a little of everything. The 20-acre complex is the largest visual museum of art to the west of Chicago and it continues to expand. The museum recently added a three story contemporary art museum consisting of 60,000 square feet. The Japanese Art Pavilion is another highlight with translucent exterior walls that allows the natural, soft light to enter and shine on the displays.

Families often enjoy spending time together at the Los Angeles Zoo. This zoo has been welcoming guests since 1966. Since 1982, one of the biggest attractions has been the koalas. These little bears still stand out in the midst of the 1,200 other animals from various countries around the world. This zoo is smaller than the one in San Diego, but it is more intimate and easier to explore. Not only does the zoo hold interesting animals, but also the grounds are more like an arboretum than a zoo. You will notice, thick, mature trees that shade the walkways and wonderful landscapes filled with flowers. The Campo Gorilla Reserve, which opened in 2007, is a wonderful habitat that houses six African gorillas in an area that resembles West Africa. The Sea Lion Cliffs gives five sea lions a home in a saltwater oasis that visitors can view from an underwater glass viewing display. There are many other wonderful aspects of the zoo. It is easy to enjoy an entire day watching the animals and taking in the sunshine and the sights.

As you plan your California adventure, consider staying in one of the hotels Burbank has ready for travelers. These hotels are comfortable, quiet and relaxing and they offer easy access to the high-paced city of LA. They have a distinct cultural feel unlike any other place in southern California.
